Keep Moving Forward

Everyone nowadays seems to say that you should your follow your dreams. We think about it more than taking real action. Probably it is because we satisfy ourselves with second-hand experiences, as I call them. Watching videos of people, who actually execute on their dreams. People who travel the world. Entrepreneurs who give passionate speeches, athletes, artists etc. People who have decided what to do with their lives and act on it. Experiencing the world through second-hand information is not enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.

Some people will grab what is in their reach and settle for it, others will put the effort to reach the top. Convinced that somehow, that extra effort will make them feel better. Everyone’s definition of success can be different and that’s normal. I am not talking about your usual pursuit, it is your passion, your obsession. You push it as much as it pulls you. Sometimes you play it safe, some times you take chances, sometimes you risk it all.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain

You know the feeling, it comes from the gut and it usually blossoms from there when there is a decision to make. That feeling telling you to attempt and аcomplish more. That instinct that is pushing you forward, no matter what. You already know what I am talking about, right?  Allow yourselves to tap into it. It generates momentum so huge, that it completely consumes you. That is where the flow takes place. Everything becomes natural and goes smoothly. I personally have devoted myself to that feeling. I encourage you to do the same.

There will be times, that you will hear that voice, the voice that told you cannot do it. The worst part is that this voice is your own. Waves of fear, despair, and confusion are crashing into each other. Doubt will reach and destroy you if you let it. Being able to gently recognize that negative voice and without judging it, or overthinking – simply just let it go. Afterward what will happen is that silence that got you this far, will appear. Telling you to try again.

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far it is possible to go.” — T.S. Eliot

George Mallory, answer to the question ‘Why do you want to climb Mt. Everest? – Because it is there he answered. The attempt itself means to take the harder path. Surely we like to reach the top someday, but what we really love is… it is the climb, the journey itself. It may sounds cliche, but that’s the way it is.  That process might break your spirit. It might break your bones and your heart for sure. It is hard, to wake up every day and try, and fail and try again anyway. Because trying is the way.

“The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.”
― Stephen McCranie

That effort you put in everything you do, that path that gets you where the majority of people do not go. Eventually, it gets you are headed and then, you will face something that you have not thought about – What will happen when you have reached the destination you wanted? The goal that defined you sometimes is there and sometimes it is gone. Then it is just you and the world. Most people would stop satisfied, to finish on top, but you won’t. You will start again. It might be the same thing but bigger or something completely new. Because somehow you know that this is a never-ending journey.

There will be always goals to reach, there will be more challenges to overcome. So do what you do best, keep moving forward.
